Not too many authors would get me to a live book signing. In fact, there has been only one, Sara Paretsky. Her fabulous mysteries set in Chicago featuring hard-boiled female P.I. V.I. Warshawski made me a fan thirty years ago. An added bonus was V.I.'s background in insurance. I could relate to her because I was then the Claim Systems Manager at Kemper Insurance.
I see in Sunday's Book Review section that Sara will be in Coral Gables at a book signing of her latest novel tomorrow night. It is quite a shlep to the heart of Miami and will put me past my bedtime if I go. But I'd love to add her 2012 signature to her 1988 signature!
