My father davened and blew the shofar at Anshei Emuna for Rosh Hashonah in 1993 and the congregation said it was the best he had ever done. He told me the same thing over the phone. He was proud and happy.
In the next day or so he went swimming in the community pool. That night he had a massive coronary, his first, and passed away. Today is his yartzeit.
When my father moved to the King's Point "Active Adult" community in 1979 he thought he truly had attained the lifestyle of the rich and famous. The $2.49 breakfast everyday at the Bagel Tree! An indoor AND outdoor swimming pool steps away from the condo! Gorgeous weather and no snow! A shvitz! Dancing and shows at the clubhouse! And at long last the time to go to shul every Saturday morning and earn the respect and admiration of the congregation.
So my father died thinking he was a wealthy man :-)
Miss you Dad. Miss you so much.
