My late BFF gave me the J.A.P. handbook in 1982. It's one of two "self help" guides I kept from decades ago. The other one definitely deserves a post of it's own.The handbook has helpful tips on how to convert the names of your deceased relatives - Yankel, Itzak, Tzipkah or Golda - into modern "equivalents" like Connor, Aiden, Tiffany and Giselle and how to rip your clothes and wail should your child plan to marry a shiksa or sheygetz. There are also tips on nose jobs, buying wholesale and planning the bar mitzvah or wedding of the century.
I do get my nails done every two weeks but I realize I have a long way to go to reach my full potential!
