My Dad, who lived through the Great Depression, told me it was a scary time - people's homes were foreclosed, cities went bankrupt and people could not find work no matter what. Scared the heck out of me! He told me it would never happen again because the government put in controls to prevent it from recurring. I am pretty sure we are seeing at least a glimpse of what he saw...
